Voltage Selector Adjustment
Many UPS units have a manual selector switch (115V/220V). It is vital that this setting is correct before connecting the device to the power grid. If your model has this switch, strictly follow this procedure to avoid irreversible damage:
Disconnect the UPS from the power grid: Remove the plug from the wall outlet.
Disconnect the load: Remove all cables from the equipment connected to the UPS output sockets.
Turn off the device completely: Make sure the "On/Off" button is in the off position.
Wait 10 seconds: This time is necessary for the internal capacitors to fully discharge.
Change the selector: Use a screwdriver or appropriate tool to position the selector to the correct voltage for your region.
2. Outlet Standard and Grounding (NBR 14136)
For surge and electrical noise protections to work properly, the UPS must be connected to a properly grounded outlet, following the Brazilian standard NBR 14136.
Reversing Line and Neutral can compromise the safety and functioning of the UPS protection circuit. Check the pin configuration of your outlet as shown in the image below:
How to identify the correct pin configuration:
When looking at the outlet fixed to the wall, with the Ground pin (the central hole) positioned upwards, the configuration should be as shown in the image:
Attention: The use of "T" adapters (power strips) or removal of the grounding pin voids the equipment warranty and puts your devices at risk of electric shock and damage from surges.
3. Additional Usage Recommendations
Battery Charging: When using the UPS for the first time, it is recommended to keep it connected to the power grid for at least 10 to 12 hours so that the battery reaches full charge.
Do not overload: Check the rated power of your UPS (in VA or Watts) and ensure that the total of connected equipment does not exceed this limit.
Avoid motor devices: Do not connect laser printers, vacuum cleaners, or fans to the UPS unless the model is specifically designed for motors (pure sine wave), as current spikes can damage the inverter.
